PRESS RELEASE – 26th OCTOBER 2011

BRW magazine have just released their annual Top 100 Accounting Firms, ranked by Revenue for the 2010 – 2011 period. Newcomer to the list; the Proactive Accountants Network has come in to the top 10 as firm number 9 ranking alongside industry heavyweights such as PwC, KPMG, Ernst & Young and Deloitte.

Local firm May Partners Pty Ltd is a member of this network which is made up of firms from all across Australia and New Zealand. Interestingly, Proactive Accountants Network only launched as an official network earlier this year on the 18th May 2011 with 65 members. In only 5 months it is now over 80 members strong generating $135 million in revenue each year.

Rick Henery of May Partners Pty Ltd said that “already SME’s in the local community were benefitting from using a Proactive firm as they focused on business owners long term interests and overall business success rather than being an accountant that just offered compliance and tax related services”. Generally member firms of the Proactive Accountants Network offer the following services to clients; Helping grow their client’s business; Improving their client’s cash flow; Increasing their client’s profitability; Advising on succession planning or sale; Ensuring their client’s assets are properly protected; Doing everything legally possible to minimise tax; planning for financial retirement; and helping determine the legacy their client’s would like to leave..

The network was established by Nixon Advantage - leading coaching and consulting firm to the accounting profession after market research indicated that there was space in the industry for a new network to focus on business development for accounting firms and the creation of a community for proactive firms.

CEO Rob Nixon attributes the fast success of the network “to the quality of its member firms who include a mix of sole practitioners, 2-3 partner firms and some mid-tier firms all being proactive in the way they operate within the accounting profession. This means that these accounting firms focus on the delivery of services that help businesses grow and improve profitability and cash flow. No one wants an accountant that just does your tax and compliance. Business people want more out of their accountant these days; they want advice on succession, retirement and creating a legacy. I believe that Proactive Accountants Network firms have been delivering this to their clients and that is why the network is now being recognised.”
